The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. Southwest Region chartered a new chapter in Port Arthur, Texas.

 

The informational meeting was held Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas. Four chapters representing the Southwest Region were in attendance: Chapters attending the information meeting were Epsilon Theta of Beaumont, Texas, Delta Beta of Austin, Texas, Delta Chi of Houston, Texas, and Epsilon Lambda of Orange, Texas. The pinning Ceremony was held Monday, November 1, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas. The name of the charter chapter is Zeta Beta. Mary Agnes Dages, Germain Jackson Eddie, Patricia Goolsbye, and Mary Sparks of Epsilon Theta Chapter, Beaumont, Texas were appointed by the regional director, Spondra Mattews, as the pledgee committee. The prospective charter members are Angela RaeNee Batiste, Mekisha Bazile, Gretchen Buchanan, Robin Lynn Carter, Sandra G. Castille, Gwendolyn B. Davis, Chanetta Dickerson, Dawanna L. Jones, JoAntonette Kirksey, Ramona Pitre, Hortense Morton Price, Canji Rhodes, Angelic Scott, Alvine Sonnier, and Ruth Etta Mullin-Spain.

 

Purpose and Philosophy - As a professional organization of well-trained and effective educators in all components of the learning spectrum, the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. is dedicated to training youth and adults to develop and enhance those skills, abilities, attitudes and ethics that will prepare them to function successfully in a democratic society. Education is the vehicle by which they can pursue their dreams, discover new vistas, seek self-actualization and achieve extraordinary accomplishments.

 

The Port Arthur Zeta Beta Charter Chapter induction ceremony was held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the MCM Elegante’ Hotel in Beaumont, Texas. The induction was not open to media or public. All other events were held at the Elegante’. The luncheon at $25 per person was held at 12:00 noon was open to the media and public. The Epsilon Theta – Beaumont, Texas Chapter sponsored a cocktail party at 6:30 p.m.
